At the minute, it’s a product that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized since it is hated, you have to have seen some it everywhere, to the great displeasure from the many critics, who feel that in France, Canada Goose is the new Moncler within a negative sense.
But on the opposite side in the fence, there are lots of fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I feel have only recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal in the end of August 2012 to June 2013, therefore i wore my Canada Goose Jacket Sale in various conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, up to 8°C after i returned to France for 3 weeks), so I think I actually have a relatively extensive, clear view on the quality of the item.
So, as a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: exactly what do I think about a bulky parka?
But before I report back, I’d like to take a moment to think about Canada Goose’s brand image, which can be rather ambiguous…

Ah…the price. This is actually the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For most haters (and trust me there are lots) you’re a sucker if you purchase a Canada Goose because:
In reality, everything could be better inside an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as including the biggest haters are unanimous over the quality of the pieces.
Considering the standard of the merchandise, you get yourself a lot for your money. I’ve looked and honestly, you can not find anything cheaper with the exact same quality (warning, my criteria failed to just boil to ‘it has to keep me warm’, I’ll get back to that the bit later on).
People often talk with me about North Face, which surprises me whenever. As if there’s an incredibly expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to pay nearly 450 dollars for a 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), manufactured in China, now that’s Expensive for what exactly it is. Read more about synthetic vs down insulation here
Then there’s one factor that’s never considered by the critics: the cut.
Because it should be noted that it’s hard to find parkas cut along with a number of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, since there are some that make you look just like a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, certain to make you stay warm only -60°. It’s made use of by Alaskan miners and those that are employed in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts on the planet. There’s even a strap on the shoulder that will save you in desperate situations. You won’t look anything special with this particular face up, but at least you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, probably the most modified design of the brand, with a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets to keep your hands warm: it’s inside your interest to obtain some gloves!
As being a side note, when you’ve spent the past five years looking for the very best cut items of clothing for your personal figure, it’s a weighty argument. However I completely recognize that it’s not really the truth for everyone. During my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re investing in a product!’
I’ll tell the truth together with you, that’s the things i thought to begin with, but it really isn’t the situation.
Really, not at all. For instance, Quartz Nature is a lesser known Quebec brand that has exactly the same prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, which is 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is simply next door to my home) is even more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, by using a quality that’s similar to Canada Goose, however with an entirely different brand identity for Quebecers, since the products are made in Quebec (french-speaking). And even in that price, nobody dares to suggest that you’re only purchasing a brand…
So why these prices? The fur that you see in the hoods is costly. Like a point of interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs for that hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And you can also find no secrets: for the piece that’s not made in China, with down and quality finish, you quickly reach the 500/600 dollar price tag, if not more. It’s the real worth of things.
Kanuk (The best Quebec coat brand, but which costs lots of money and it is targeted at a somewhat older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off over a slight tangent, but it seemed necessary because, in my opinion, Canada Goose is a brand which is unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it actually like wearing a Canada Goose parka every day?
There’s no reason for drawing the suspense: in the winter months conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am not surprised the brand is given to workers in certain governmental bodies, because you get the feeling that its design is the result of a hellish experience in the cold.
In my opinion, there are loads of brilliantly thought through details. That goes in the wire around the hood towards the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello on the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) for the two pairs of pockets to your hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And will it really keep you warm?
Completely. It’s as though you’ll never notice the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re waiting for the bus, or if you walk home after having a winter’s night out, you might be never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The protection from the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I found myself in a carnival in Quebec, that may be to state spending 6 hours outside with a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, however with some wind (I have no idea just how much this g0ose the way the temperature feels, but say at least an additional -10°) and it ought to be noted that you’re protected perfectly from your cold. Even at -20°. Even the length of the zipper is safe, which suggests the wind just never gets near the inside of your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well-crafted, and even though you don’t place it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects the head perfectly from high winds is very great, really effective.
However, these aren’t the garments to get a sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re bound to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Jacket Sale are created for workers doing a great deal of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the company). Extreme mountain climbers tend to get brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears away from a Wooyoungmi coat having an absolutely perfect cut. But having tried out a few, Canada Goose is just one of those rare parka brands to worry about the cut of some of their designs. And So I was surprised to get the shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (one of the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, everything relative) are already worked tirelessly on and so are relatively high. If chosen well to your size, the parka doesn’t hang off your shoulders, it’s neat and tidy.
Finally, and so i was surprised, it is usually the situation using the most urban pieces that the size S can be a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS which happens to be good to know.
